Stemcor steels the limelight at Offshore Europe 2009

Stemcor Special Steels made a strong debut at the Offshore Europe exhibition in Aberdeen last month, with its bold approach as “A New Power in the Energy Sector”.

In years to come Offshore Europe 2009 may well be seen as a landmark conference. Its theme, “Energy at a Crossroads – Making Choices”, reflected a move into a new era in Oil and Gas.

The energy industry is facing fundamental changes. Dwindling North Sea resources and mounting concern over climate change have encouraged the sector to look at new and dynamic solutions to secure the world’s energy supply, the elite of the industry were in force at the show and all were focussed on the tough challenges ahead.

The calibre and diversity of international players reflected the feeling in the industry that only a unified approach to tackling the issues will secure an energy supply for future generations. Attending were Denmark’s Minister for Climate Change (Connie Hedegaard), Maersk Oil Chief Executive (Thomas Tune Anderson) and Totals Chief Executive (Christophe de Margerie), along with the chief executives of Petrobas and Schlumberger.

The show stats revealed that the biennial show was the largest in its 36 year history and attendance hit a record high of over 30,000. One would like to suggest this was due to Stemcor Special Steels’ presence, but that’s stretching it a bit – even for a marketing exec!

Our stand was well attended and the feedback from Richard Parry, Ian Brightmore and Sarah Hart who manned the stand was extremely positive. The Stemcor brand generated serious interest from customers, both potential and existing, and sent a shockwave through competitors at the show – result!

Stemcor Special Steels will be exhibiting at OE 2011.
